Abe Exposes Politicians’ True Motive: Support for Fubara Is About Undermining Wike
Former Rivers Southeast Senator Magnus Abe has revealed that politicians backing Governor Siminalayi Fubara are not doing so out of genuine support for him or the state, but rather to undermine the influence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Abe made the statement during a Rivers State stakeholders’ program hosted by Wike on Friday to celebrate the New Year. He claimed that the individuals rallying behind Fubara are motivated by selfish political ambitions, rather than a desire to serve the people or support Fubara’s governance.
“Nobody is with Governor Fubara because they love Rivers State or Governor Fubara,” Abe said. “They are with him because they see him as a means to achieve their political goal — to bring down the FCT Minister.”
The comment highlights the ongoing rift between Wike and Fubara, which has persisted since Fubara assumed office in 2023. The two leaders have been at odds over who controls the political structure in Rivers State, creating a tense political atmosphere in the state.
