Reno Omokri Slams Peter Obi for Criticizing Tinubu While Excusing His Own Actions

Social commentator Reno Omokri has called out former presidential candidate Peter Obi for criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s foreign trips while excusing his own actions. Omokri, in a post on his official X account, highlighted the positive impact of Tinubu’s international visits, which have attracted substantial foreign investments into Nigeria.

Omokri pointed out that while Obi has criticized Tinubu’s travels, these trips have led to tangible economic benefits, including a 28% increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) under Tinubu’s leadership. Notable investments include a $2.5 billion investment from the world’s largest livestock company, JBS SA, following Tinubu’s visit to Brazil. Additionally, Coca-Cola announced plans to invest $1 billion in Nigeria over the next five years, citing optimism about Nigeria’s future under the Tinubu administration.

In his post, Omokri also contrasted Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, who is actively investing in Nigeria and employing thousands, with Peter Obi’s son, Peter Oseloka Obi. Omokri questioned why Obi had not publicly showcased his son’s contributions, drawing attention to what he sees as a double standard.

“Charity begins at home,” Omokri remarked, asserting that Obi should be transparent about his family’s activities, just as Seyi Tinubu’s efforts are scrutinized. He also took issue with Obi’s criticism of Tinubu’s medical treatments abroad, pointing out that during his tenure as Governor of Anambra, Obi had not initiated any significant healthcare projects, unlike Tinubu, who had commissioned seven hospitals in Lagos.

Omokri concluded by asserting that while it’s easy to criticize others, it’s more important to hold oneself accountable for one’s own actions.
