Sheikh Ahmad Dhikrullah Urges Nigerians to Seek Self-Improvement, Not Blame Government for Nation’s Hardships

Sheikh Ahmad Dhikrullah, founder of the Al Haqdeen International Islamic Society, has called on Nigerians to stop blaming the government for the nation’s hardships and instead take responsibility for their roles in improving their lives. Speaking during the closing ceremony of the Hijirah Mukhayam 2024 in Ibadan, Sheikh Dhikrullah acknowledged the challenging times Nigerians are facing but emphasized that the government is not solely to blame for the country’s difficulties.

The philanthropist and religious leader explained that the hardships Nigeria faces are not the result of divine punishment, stating, “It is not the fault of God either that the economy or the country is hard, because God does not orchestrate evil, and He is not the author of confusion.”

Sheikh Dhikrullah pointed out that both the government and citizens contribute to the issues of crime, corruption, and societal degradation. He urged Nigerians to be mindful not to quickly blame the government, as leaders and citizens alike are imperfect. “We all have a hand in the nation’s challenges,” he said.

The cleric called on all Nigerians, regardless of social status, to examine their thoughts, words, and actions as a way to foster national growth. He observed that many people have lost their fear of God, instead prioritizing money and fearing other people.

Sheikh Dhikrullah suggested that the nation’s current hardships could be seen as a result of divine displeasure. He explained that both the rich and poor are experiencing the consequences of their actions. “We are reaping what we sowed,” he stated. “No one is righteous. Everyone has their flaws. When you ruin other people’s lives and reputation, how do you expect your own life to be smooth and good?”

The cleric reaffirmed that simply blaming the government would not solve Nigeria’s problems. Instead, he called for a transformative shift, beginning with individuals in their homes and communities. He also urged religious leaders and worshippers in both mosques and churches to abandon wickedness and deceit, and to seek forgiveness from God.

Sheikh Dhikrullah encouraged Nigerians to make changes in their ways in order to propel the nation forward.
