Delta Governor Mourns Victims of Agbor Fuel Tanker Explosion
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the devastating fuel tanker explosion that occurred in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, on Sunday. The tragic incident, which resulted in the death of four people, has left the community in shock.
According to reports, the explosion was triggered by a brake failure on the tanker, which overturned at the traffic light junction along the busy Old Lagos-Asaba road. The resulting fire engulfed the area, tragically claiming four lives and leaving three others with varying degrees of injury. Additionally, the explosion caused damage to several houses and vehicles.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori expressed deep sorrow over the horrific incident. He prayed for the swift recovery of the injured and extended his sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives.
“The incident is truly horrifying, and my heart goes out to the victims and their families,” the governor said. “I pray for strength for those grieving and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.”
Governor Oborevwori assured the public that the State Ministry of Health, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and other relevant bodies have been directed to take immediate action to provide assistance to the victims of the explosion. The governor also commended the heroic efforts of the fire service, local residents, and security agencies for their swift response in containing the fire and helping those affected by the disaster.
