Nigerian Police Dismantle Child Trafficking Syndicate in Plateau State
The Nigeria Police Force has successfully dismantled a child trafficking syndicate operating in the Bukuru area of Plateau State, rescuing five young children in the process.
In a statement released on Monday, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that the operation led to the arrest of Pastor Dayo Bernard, the alleged ringleader of the syndicate, and several of his accomplices. Bernard, who leads the End Time Army Ministry in Bukuru, was apprehended along with Rita Agboeze, Victoria Ugwu, Nanman Puntel, and Peter Ukwuani.
The police operation resulted in the rescue of five children, aged between two and four years, who had been abducted from various homes in Jos, Plateau State. According to Adejobi, Pastor Bernard confessed to abducting and selling 13 children at different prices, contributing to the network of exploitation.
The rescued children have since been reunited with their families through the efforts of the Plateau State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
The police have pledged to intensify efforts in combatting child trafficking and bringing all perpetrators to justice. ACP Adejobi also reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to further cracking down on criminal activities and addressing the issue of illegal arms and ammunition.
