Deji Adeyanju Criticizes Tinubu for Not Releasing Nnamdi Kanu
Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has expressed disappointment over President Bola Tinubu’s decision to continue with the policies of former President Muhammadu Buhari, particularly in the case of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In a post shared on X, Adeyanju stated that President Tinubu should have already taken the step to release Kanu, who has been incarcerated since June 2021. Kanu’s arrest followed his rendition from Kenya to Nigeria, where he faces charges related to his leadership of IPOB.
Adeyanju further criticized the president’s approach, noting that it is easier to criticize others than to govern effectively. He implied that such behavior is characteristic of bad leadership, referencing the broader context of governance in Africa, particularly under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The call for Kanu’s release remains a point of contention, as many activists and groups continue to push for his freedom, while others believe that his detention is part of the country’s efforts to address national security concerns.
