Kano Family Left Homeless as Court Sells N20 Million House for N2 Million

A Kano resident, Malam Surajo Yarima, is urgently calling on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to intervene after his house, worth an estimated N20 million, was allegedly auctioned for just N2 million by a court to settle a debt of N300,000 he had failed to repay.

In an interview with Hikima RTV, Yarima revealed that the sale left him, his wife, and their nine children without a home. He explained that he had been summoned several times by the court, but was unable to attend due to being out of the state at the time.

Yarima returned to Kano on January 6, two days after the auction, with the N300,000 to settle the debt, but his creditor refused to accept the payment. Despite being informed of a three-week period to appeal the court’s decision, Yarima expressed frustration as the auction proceeded without delay.

“My house was auctioned for only N2 million, and now my family and I are sleeping outside,” Yarima lamented. He has since appealed for the Kano State government to investigate the matter, alleging a lack of transparency in the judicial process that led to his family’s displacement.

As of now, there has been no official statement from the Kano State government or the judiciary regarding the case.
