Sowore Slams Wike for Sending His Son Abroad Amid Nigeria’s Education Crisis”
Omoyele Sowore, the renowned activist and politician, has strongly criticized Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, over his recent announcement that his son, Jordan, graduated with a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from Queen Mary University of London.
Wike, in a post shared on his official Facebook page, proudly revealed his son’s academic achievement in the UK. However, the announcement quickly sparked backlash from many Nigerians, who pointed fingers at the country’s politicians for allegedly neglecting local education while sending their own children abroad for their studies.
Sowore, known for his sharp commentary, took to his official X handle to deliver a biting response. He reminded Wike of his long tenure in public office—serving as a local government chairman, Minister of Education, Governor of Rivers State, and now as the FCT Minister—and yet, after all these years, he had failed to establish a school capable of enrolling his own child.
Sowore expressed his disappointment, stating, “Nyesom Wike served as local government chairman for two terms, Minister of Education for four years, Governor of Rivers State for two terms, and is now the FCT Minister. Despite all these years in power, he sends his children to study in the UK, after contributing to the destruction of education in Nigeria, using funds that rightfully belong to the masses.”
