A 23-year-old salesgirl, Bukola Adeoye, was arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday for allegedly stealing N2.1 million from her employer.
Adeoye, whose residential address remains unknown, is facing a one-count charge of theft. She pleaded not guilty to the charge during the court session.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, the theft occurred on December 20, 2024, around 2:00 pm at Mosafejo Area in Badagry. Adeosun alleged that Adeoye stole N968,200 in cash, belonging to her employer, Zannu Thomas. The prosecutor further stated that Adeoye also converted N1,174,800 from one week’s sales for her personal use.
The offence, according to the prosecution, contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Patrick Adekomaiya, granted Adeoye bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned until February 11, 2025, for further mention.
