The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered an immediate crackdown on those responsible for the deadly explosion at the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State. The attack, which took place in the early hours of January 9, 2025, claimed the lives of two police officers—Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat.

According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, the attack is believed to have been carried out by suspected Boko Haram terrorists. In response to the tragedy, the IGP condemned the attack and vowed that anyone involved in killing police officers would face justice.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, shared the IGP’s message of condolence to the families of the slain officers. Egbetokun assured the families that their loved ones’ sacrifices would not be forgotten and that their benefits and entitlements would be paid promptly.

As part of the response, the IGP has directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 15, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to deploy all necessary resources and personnel to track down those responsible for the attack. Adejobi emphasized that the IGP has made it clear that the full weight of the law would be brought down on the perpetrators.
