Governor Bago Approves Salary Increase for Casual Hospital Workers Amid Concerns
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has approved a new monthly salary of N80,000 for casual hospital workers across the state, addressing concerns raised by casual employees at the Minna General Hospital regarding their employment conditions.
Governor Bago made this announcement during a meeting with the affected workers in Minna, following complaints about being underpaid during a recent conversion exercise initiated by his administration.
The governor assured the workers that this decision aligns with the state’s approved minimum wage, ensuring that casual employees receive fair compensation for their services. However, he clarified that it would not be feasible to absorb all casual workers into the state’s civil service.
Bago outlined a clear plan for workers with higher qualifications, stating that those holding degree qualifications and who have served between 10 to 15 years will be automatically appointed. Those with diploma certificates will be appointed on probation, with a requirement to upgrade their qualifications within three years to secure permanent positions.
