“Abbas Sani Abbas Joins APC Following Dismissal as Kano Commissioner”
Abbas Sani Abbas, the recently dismissed Commissioner for Rural and Community Development in Kano State, has officially defected from the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abbas, who was among the six commissioners dismissed last month by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during a cabinet shakeup, made his move to the APC during a visit to prominent party leaders, including the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, in Kano.
In a Facebook post shared on Wednesday, Jibrin announced Abbas’ defection, saying, “I welcomed Hon. Abbas Sani Abbas to our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), a moment ago.”
Abbas had served as the Commissioner for Rural and Community Development in Kano State until his recent dismissal. Jibrin praised Abbas for his commitment to grassroots mobilization and expressed optimism about his future contributions to the APC.
The Deputy Senate President, alongside the Chairman of the APC in Kano State, Prince Abdullahi Abbas (Ɗan Sarki, Jikan Sarki), and other party leaders, welcomed the former commissioner into the party fold.
“We proudly embraced Hon. Abbas, a dedicated grassroots mobilizer to our party. We assured him of our support as we work together to build a better future for the people of Kano State and all Nigerians,” Jibrin stated.
