The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, participated in a special prayer session at the Central Mosque in Abuja, alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other prominent dignitaries, to commemorate the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
This special prayer, held annually on January 15, was dedicated to honoring Nigeria’s military and paramilitary personnel who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation. It served as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for the fallen heroes who gave their lives while defending the country.
A press statement issued by Ahmad Dan-Wudil, the Minister’s Personal Assistant on Media, described the event as a solemn occasion that underscored the selfless sacrifices made by Nigeria’s security forces. The prayer session was a part of a series of events marking the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, which is observed to honor the brave personnel and pray for their families.
During the session, prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of departed soldiers, the well-being and success of those currently in service, and for the continued progress and stability of the nation.
The event was attended by members of the Federal Executive Council, lawmakers, senior military officers, and paramilitary personnel. As the nation prepares for the wreath-laying ceremony and other activities, Minister Matawalle urged Nigerians to reflect on the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and work toward building a peaceful, secure nation for future generations.
