PLASU Expands: NUC Approves Six New Academic Programs, Including MBBS and Pharm D
Plateau State University Bokkos (PLASU) has received significant academic recognition with the approval of six new programs by the National Universities Commission (NUC). During the 92nd regular meeting of the Senate on January 10, 2025, Acting Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the Senate, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best, proudly announced the endorsement of degrees in Medical Sciences (MBBS), Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharm D.), Statistics (B.Sc.), and Religious Studies (B.A.).
In addition to these, PLASU also secured accreditation for its newly established programs in Law and Nursing Sciences, after receiving the endorsement of relevant professional bodies.
“We have now officially received approval from the National Universities Commission for all of these programs,” Prof. Best announced, expressing immense pride in the university’s growing academic portfolio.
This approval comes after a series of resource verification visits by the NUC last year, which assessed PLASU’s readiness to offer these new programs.
Prof. Best attributed the university’s success to the unwavering support of Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, whose commitment to the institution’s development has been instrumental in achieving this landmark achievement.
“I would like to sincerely thank the Governor for his steadfast support of the university’s progress. This achievement would not have been possible without his leadership and dedication,” Prof. Best added. The approval marks a significant milestone in PLASU’s growth and academic expansion.
