Nigerian Soldier Detained in Maiduguri for Illegal Ammunition Possession”
A soldier, identified as Nathaniel Jeremiah, has been detained at the Borno Express Terminal Park in Maiduguri on suspicion of possessing illegal ammunition. Jeremiah, who is attached to the Nigerian Army’s 7 Division, was arrested during a routine security check while attempting to board a vehicle to Adamawa State on a welfare pass.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, during the search, 89 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were discovered hidden in Jeremiah’s personal bag. The ammunition was promptly seized, and the soldier was taken into custody for questioning.
The incident is under investigation, and the authorities have been notified of the ammunition seizure for further examination. While no official statement has been issued, authorities are continuing their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the illegal possession of the ammunition.
