Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbodiyan, has pointed to the involvement of Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, in the governance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a significant factor contributing to the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP. Ologbodiyan expressed concerns that Wike’s role in the APC has created an environment where the PDP could potentially collapse.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Ologbodiyan warned that there are deliberate attempts to reduce the PDP to nothing more than a branch or a subsidiary of the APC. He suggested that the party’s internal struggles were exacerbated by the influence of APC leaders, particularly Wike’s involvement in the APC government.
“As a member of the PDP, whatever the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, says officially represents the party’s position. I stand by that,” Ologbodiyan clarified, reaffirming the legitimacy of Sunday Ude Okoye’s leadership within the party.
On the broader issue of external challenges, Ologbodiyan highlighted the strategic moves by the APC to weaken the PDP. “The involvement of Wike, a former presidential aspirant and former governor of Rivers State, in APC governance has created an opening for the possible collapse of the PDP,” he stated, asserting that this influence is a critical factor in the party’s ongoing turmoil.
The comments reflect the growing tension and uncertainty within the PDP as it grapples with leadership disputes and external pressures from rival political factions.
