Ovie Omo-Agege Slams Rumors of APC Exit as “Baseless” and “Idiotic”

Ovie Omo-Agege, the former Deputy President of the Senate and Delta State’s APC governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, has vehemently denied the circulating rumors suggesting he plans to abandon the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement released on Tuesday, his media adviser, Sunny Areh, condemned the reports as unfounded and part of a speculative smear campaign. He labeled the publication, which claimed that Omo-Agege was plotting to leave the APC and join forces with Mallam Nasir el-Rufai to form a new political party, as utterly false and “idiotic.”

“This outlandish story is not just shocking; it is completely baseless,” Omo-Agege’s representative said. “Having led the APC to its best-ever performance in Delta State during the 2023 general elections—winning two of the three senatorial seats and narrowly missing out on the governorship—it is absurd to associate Senator Omo-Agege with such groundless rumors. This is nothing more than a product of malicious and speculative journalism.”

Areh went on to accuse certain political forces of deliberately attempting to create discord between Omo-Agege and President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu by spreading these falsehoods. He also criticized the alleged perpetrators of the rumors for attempting to destabilize the APC in Delta State.

Omo-Agege, he affirmed, is unwavering in his commitment to the APC and its mission to improve the state. “As the leader of APC in Delta, I remain firmly dedicated to ensuring we rescue the state from the series of failed administrations by 2027,” he concluded.

The statement effectively quashes the rumors, reaffirming Omo-Agege’s dedication to both his party and his home state’s future.
