Tragedy on Bida-Mokwa Road: Seven Lives Lost in Fatal Collision

A devastating crash on Tuesday night along the Bida-Mokwa Road in Niger State has claimed the lives of seven people. The tragic incident occurred near Panti in the Lavun Local Government Area when a truck, traveling from Lagos to Abuja, collided head-on with a Toyota Corolla en route from Batati to Kutigi, the administrative heart of Lavun LGA.

The Toyota Corolla, carrying nine passengers, was crushed in the violent impact, resulting in the immediate deaths of all its occupants — five women and two men.

The Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kumar Tsukwam, confirmed the fatalities and shared that the bodies of the victims have been transported to Kutigi General Hospital for further examination.

Tsukwam has urged road users to exercise extreme caution, especially during nighttime travel, and to always abide by traffic laws. “We continue to appeal to drivers to avoid reckless driving and ensure their vehicles are properly maintained,” he advised, stressing the importance of safety in preventing further tragedies on the roads.
