Katsina Governor Installs CCTV Cameras in Schools for Enhanced Security
Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has unveiled plans to install CCTV cameras in schools across the state to bolster security and protect students and teachers from potential threats. During a distribution event for educational materials at the Government House in Katsina on Tuesday, Radda emphasized the importance of safeguarding educational environments.
“The security of our students and teachers is paramount. Installing CCTV cameras will not only deter criminal activities but also provide real-time monitoring to enhance safety measures in our schools,” Radda stated.
This initiative is part of the governor’s broader efforts to improve education in the state. In addition to the security measures, the state government has distributed 25,000 textbooks each for Mathematics, Computer Science, and English Language to Basic 4-6 pupils to support learning.
Governor Radda also revealed that 18 buses had been distributed to improve project coordination, along with special equipment for the School for the Blind, aiming to address the needs of students with disabilities.
To further improve school infrastructure, ₦4.737 billion has been allocated for the construction of classrooms, toilets, and water facilities in 150 primary schools identified as having critical deficits.
Radda urged community members and School-Based Management Committees to take an active role in maintaining school facilities and ensuring the safety of students. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving teachers’ welfare, noting that a reward system would be implemented to recognize and motivate dedicated educators.
“By ensuring the provision of essential resources and infrastructure, the government aims to foster an environment where every child has the opportunity to excel and reach their full potential,” Radda concluded.
