NAPS Issues Seven-Day Ultimatum to Federal Polytechnic Bida Over Fee Hike
The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has called on the management of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State, to reverse a recent increase in school fees that has raised alarm among students.
In a statement issued by NAPS President, Adeniji Boluwaji Temitope, the association expressed concerns following complaints from the Student Union President of the polytechnic about the fee hike. NAPS revealed that despite efforts to reach out to the institution’s management, they have been unable to engage in a productive dialogue with the school administration.
To address the issue, NAPS has given the polytechnic’s management a seven-day ultimatum to reduce the tuition fees and arrange a meeting with student leaders for further discussions.
“The Senate Leadership of NAPS has agreed to give the management of Federal Polytechnic Bida a seven-working-day ultimatum to reduce the school fees and hold a proper meeting with the Student Union Government and NAPS Senate Leadership,” the statement read.
NAPS accused the school management of routinely increasing fees each academic session and urged students to withhold payment of the new fees until the matter is resolved.
The association warned that if the school administration fails to meet their demands, they will mobilize students to shut down the institution until the fee hike issue is addressed.
“If the management of Federal Polytechnic Bida fails to reduce the school fees before the seven-day ultimatum expires, the Senate Leadership will mobilize heavily to shut down the school until the management is ready to address the fee hike,” the statement concluded.
