Ondo State Imposes Vehicle and Motorcycle Restrictions on Election Day
The Ondo State Police Command has announced a restriction on vehicular and motorcycle movement across the state from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM this Saturday, in preparation for the local government elections. The state’s police commissioner, Mr. Wilfred Afolabi, made this known in a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Funmilayo Odunlami.
Afolabi explained that the restriction was being imposed for security reasons, ensuring a smooth and peaceful electoral process. The police chief also pre-warned commuters who might need to pass through the state on election day, advising them to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
“However, essential workers such as security personnel, healthcare workers, firefighters, and other service providers will be allowed free movement during this period to perform their duties. Movement for emergency situations will also be permitted,” Afolabi said.
The commissioner further urged all eligible voters to adhere to the rules of the electoral process and exercise their civic duties responsibly.
He also issued a stern warning to any individuals who may attempt to cause unrest during the election. “All those with ill intentions are advised to stay away, as we have put in place measures to prevent any disturbances,” he cautioned.
To ensure the safety of both human and material resources, Afolabi reassured the public that robust security arrangements have been made to guarantee a peaceful election day.
