The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of five individuals from the Odu-Eku community in the Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State. The incident occurred at approximately 1:15 AM on January 15, 2025, when gunmen stormed the community and kidnapped two males and three females, moving them to an unknown location.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, SP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated that law enforcement and local vigilante groups have already been deployed to the area in a bid to rescue the victims.
“The Kwara Police Command is aware of a kidnap incident that occurred at about 01:15 hours of January 15, 2025, at the Odu-Eku Camp in Odu-Eku Community, Isin LGA. Five persons, two males and three females, have been abducted and moved to an unknown location. Immediate deployment has taken place, and both the police and vigilante groups are actively working on a rescue mission,” the statement read.

Earlier reports from SaharaReporters indicated that the kidnappers had targeted the victims’ homes during the night. Among those abducted were a mother and her daughter, as well as another visiting woman and two men. The victims, who are of the Hausa tribe and had been living in the community for farming purposes, were taken without warning.
Elder Ogundeji, the Odofin of Odo-Eku, confirmed the details, stating that the police had visited the scene, promising to conduct an investigation and ensure the victims’ safe return.
