Obafemi Pays Tribute to Nigerian Armed Forces on Remembrance Day
A philanthropist, business mogul, and prominent governorship aspirant for the 2026 Ekiti State election, Otunba Peter Obafemi (OPO), has expressed deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by the Nigerian Armed Forces in ensuring peace, security, and stability in the country.
In his statement marking the Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) on January 15, Obafemi highlighted the significance of the day in honoring the fallen heroes who have made immense sacrifices in various wars and national duties.
He acknowledged the unparalleled patriotism, courage, loyalty, and commitment displayed by members of the armed forces in defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity. “Today, we honor the immeasurable sacrifices made by the brave men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces who have dedicated their lives to protecting our nation,” Obafemi said.
Obafemi further praised the serving officers for their relentless efforts, often in difficult and challenging conditions, which ensure the safety and peace of Nigeria. He also commended the Nigeria Legion of Ex-servicemen for their ongoing work in supporting incapacitated veterans and their families.
The governorship aspirant extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of fallen heroes, remembering their loved ones who paid the ultimate price for the country’s freedom. “Your strength and resilience remind us of the profound cost of the peace we enjoy today,” he added.
Obafemi urged Nigerians to renew their commitment to supporting the armed forces and emphasized the need for unity, sacrifice, and patriotism. He also called for collaboration among politicians, the military, and the judiciary to achieve national progress and elevate Nigeria’s standing on the global stage.
