Military Operation Leads to Arrests and Weapon Recoveries in Plateau
During a strategic offensive operation along the borders of Taraba and Plateau States, military forces successfully rescued a group of kidnapped victims. The operation, conducted by the troops of Operation Safe Haven, led to the safe release of the victims, who have since been reunited with their families after being profiled and documented by the appropriate agencies.
Major Samson Zhakom, the Information Officer for Operation Safe Haven, confirmed the successful operation at the headquarters in Jos, adding that it also resulted in the arrest of several criminals and the recovery of dangerous weapons, including firearms and ammunition.
In addition to the rescue, troops from Sector Five of the Golden Peace Operations captured five bandits in a hideout within Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau. The bandits were found in possession of several fabricated rifles, rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, cartridges, and daggers.
Meanwhile, in Mangu Local Government Area, troops intercepted a group of bandits who were attempting to wreak havoc in the region. The apprehended suspects are currently in custody, awaiting prosecution, as investigations into their criminal activities continue.
The military remains committed to eradicating banditry and ensuring the safety of the citizens in Plateau and surrounding regions.
