Edozie Njoku Exits APGA, Becomes National Chairman of NRM
Edozie Njoku, the former factional National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has officially left the party and assumed the position of National Chairman of the National Rescue Mission (NRM). This transition occurred following the NRM’s national convention in Abuja on Friday.
Njoku’s elevation to the NRM leadership came after Isaac Chigozie Udeh, the former National Chairman, resigned during the convention to take up the position of National Organising Secretary.
Njoku had previously conceded defeat in the internal APGA leadership crisis, agreeing to comply with a Supreme Court ruling that recognized Sylvester Ezeokenwa, backed by Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo, as the legitimate National Chairman of APGA.
In his remarks after being named NRM Chairman, Njoku expressed optimism about the party’s future, emphasizing the broader platform the NRM now provides ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We now have a bigger, national platform to bring our vision to life,” Njoku stated. “It’s time to see the success we’ve been talking about materialize.”
Reflecting on Chigozie’s selflessness in stepping aside for him, Njoku said, “I’ve learned something today that I never thought existed in Nigeria—selflessness. It’s a concept that should be celebrated, especially in the political realm.”
Njoku’s new leadership marks a significant shift as he plans to steer the NRM toward greater prominence in the coming years.
