Kano Court Remands Security Guard and Four Others Over N140 Million Aircraft Brake Theft

A Kano Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of a security guard employed by Azman Air and four other individuals involved in the alleged theft of 80 aircraft brakes worth over N140 million. The case, which has stunned the aviation industry, came to light after Otaru Bashir, an employee of Azman Air, filed a complaint against the suspects.

According to the complaint, the security guard, working at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, allegedly teamed up with others to steal the high-value aircraft brakes. During the investigation, law enforcement managed to recover three of the stolen brakes from one of the accused individuals, Yakubu Bala.

The five suspects—Nuhu Auwalu, Yakubu Bala, Emmanuel Luka, Safiyanu Abdullahi, and the security guard—were arraigned before the court on charges of conspiracy and theft. Despite the serious nature of the accusations, all five suspects pleaded not guilty.

Court Orders Remand Pending Further Investigation

Presiding over the case, Magistrate Justice Farouk Ibrahim Umar ordered the suspects to be remanded in custody while further investigations into the theft continue. The court also urged law enforcement to expedite their inquiries, emphasizing the importance of bringing those responsible to justice.

This incident raises serious concerns about security measures at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, as well as the integrity of those entrusted with safeguarding valuable assets in the aviation sector.
