Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa Expels 100 Students Over Exam Malpractices
The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, has expelled 100 students for their involvement in examination malpractices during the 2023/2024 academic session.
The expulsion was announced by the Acting Rector, Dr. Hauwa Muhammad, during the institution’s 41st matriculation ceremony, which took place over the weekend. The event saw approximately 15,000 new students, admitted for the 2024/2025 academic session, officially matriculate into various programs including National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), and Part-Time courses.
Dr. Muhammad took the opportunity to caution the new students about the consequences of academic dishonesty. She emphasized that the expelled students’ experience should serve as a warning to others, reinforcing that the institution maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward exam malpractices.
“Let the experience of the expelled students serve as a lesson to all. This institution has zero tolerance for any form of academic dishonesty,” she stated.
In addition to warning against exam cheating, Dr. Muhammad urged the new students to stay away from social vices such as drug abuse, indecent dressing, and cultism, and to focus on fostering peaceful coexistence on campus.
