“Police Foil Bandit Plot in Kogi, Arrest Five, Recover Weapons and Motorcycles”

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully disrupted a group of bandits holding a “strategic meeting” in Budon Forest, Kogi State, in preparation for an imminent attack. The operation, which took place on Saturday, was initiated after the Kogi State Command received critical intelligence regarding the meeting and planned assault.

Following this intelligence, police operatives were swiftly mobilised to the scene. Upon arrival, the bandits engaged the operatives in a fierce gun battle. Despite their resistance, the police were able to overpower the group, resulting in the neutralization of one bandit and the arrest of four others. The police also recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 30 rounds of live ammunition, and two motorcycles from the scene.

In another successful operation on the same day, the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters in Katsina State responded to a distress call about a group of suspected bandits armed with dangerous weapons heading to attack Ruwan Doruwa Village. The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, intercepted the armed bandits and engaged them in a fierce gunfight. Seven bandits were killed in the exchange, while the remaining members of the gang fled, abandoning 109 rustled livestock.

The Nigeria Police Force also intensified its efforts against human trafficking. In a significant operation, the Ondo State Police Command rescued 207 children from suspected traffickers across the country. Intelligence led to the arrest of a syndicate involved in child abduction and trafficking in Akure, Ondo State. Three suspects, Abosede Olanipekun, Lukman Isiaka, and Sabira Izuorah, were apprehended, and 14 children aged between one week and seven years old were rescued from their captors.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, emphasized the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to fighting crime, particularly human trafficking, and reiterated that the police would continue to safeguard citizens and ensure that offenders are brought to justice.

The police force’s prompt and decisive actions reflect their unwavering dedication to maintaining peace and security in Nigeria.
