Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed the state’s openness to investors, emphasizing the government’s commitment to driving economic growth and development. The governor made these remarks during a meeting in Akure with Sahara Energy, which has recently been granted licenses by the Federal Government through the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) to manage two new oil fields located in Ilaje Local Government Area.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude to Sahara Energy for its commitment to investing in Ondo State and assured the company of the state’s full support in its endeavors. “Ondo State is fortunate at this time. Although the licenses are issued by the Federal Government, we assure you of our full support to ensure your activities flourish,” the governor stated.
He further emphasized Ondo State’s position as the safest state in the country and reiterated the government’s dedication to fostering an investor-friendly climate. “We remain committed to maintaining Ondo as the safest state and creating a conducive environment for investors,” Aiyedatiwa added.
The governor also highlighted that the government alone cannot achieve comprehensive development and emphasized the state’s readiness to welcome further investments. He called on host communities to provide the necessary support and enabling environment for Sahara Energy to operate smoothly, benefiting both the state and the local communities.
Engr. Funsho Kupolokun, the Chairman of Sahara Energy’s Board, expressed his appreciation for the governor’s support and described the meeting as a critical step in the company’s operations in Ondo State. Kupolokun, who is a native of Ondo State and a former Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), stated, “We are here to share good news with the Ondo State government, and it must begin with His Excellency. Before commencing operations, we seek the governor’s permission and blessings to ensure a smooth working relationship with the state.”
He commended the governor for fostering an investor-friendly environment and assured the government that Sahara Energy would fully comply with all state regulations as it moves forward with its operations in the state.
