Edozie Njoku Sworn in as New National Chairman of NRM After APGA Exit
Chief Edozie Njoku has officially been sworn in as the new National Chairman of the National Rescue Mission (NRM), following his departure from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Njoku’s appointment came after an emergency national convention held by the NRM in Abuja on Friday, where he emerged as the party’s new leader.
Njoku’s rise to the NRM chairmanship followed the resignation of Amb. Isaac Chigozie Udeh, who stepped down from his role as National Chairman to take on the position of National Organizing Secretary. During the swearing-in ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday, Udeh explained his decision to step aside, stating that the interest of the party was paramount, and that he was willing to make personal sacrifices to ensure the party’s success in upcoming elections.
Udeh further emphasized, “The interest of the party supersedes any individualistic interests, and that is why I paid that price. That is why I made that sacrifice to ensure that this party is repositioned to the height that is required of it to win elections in this country.”
Njoku’s move to the NRM follows a public concession of defeat in his legal battle over the APGA leadership. He had previously stated that he would comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling, which recognized Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the legitimate National Chairman of APGA, after the faction led by Victor Oye and backed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo was upheld by the court.
