“Rhodes-Vivour Calls APC a ‘Party of Thuggery and Rigging,’ Claims It Hinders Nigeria’s Growth”
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos, has launched a fierce attack on the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the party of promoting corruption and impunity. In a recent interview with Nigeria Info FM, Rhodes-Vivour criticized the APC for fostering a political environment that rewards individuals with criminal records and fake qualifications, instead of promoting merit and integrity.
Rhodes-Vivour pointed out that the APC’s reliance on divisive tactics such as bigotry, violence, and election rigging undermines the country’s democratic process. He argued that instead of campaigning on meaningful ideas or policies, the APC resorts to these unethical practices to maintain power.
“It is visible even to the blind that APC is a party that rewards corruption, thuggery, and impunity,” Rhodes-Vivour said. “It’s no surprise they attract the worst of us: fake lawyers, and leaders with records of crime, without certificates.”
He also criticized the party’s dominance in Lagos State, suggesting that it is controlled by a select few cabals who manipulate the political landscape and only support candidates who will act in their interests. “They do not campaign on ideas or even govern with any,” Rhodes-Vivour noted, “but rely on violence and rigging to force their way into office.”
In his final remarks, Rhodes-Vivour emphasized that the lack of character, competence, and empathy within the APC poses a significant barrier to Nigeria’s growth and progress. “No nation can grow with a party populated by people without character, competence, and empathy,” he concluded.
