The ongoing feud between Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has escalated, prompting the PDP Youth Front (PDP-YFN) to demand that the governor either stop embarrassing the party or resign.
The latest exchange began when Mohammed accused Wike of engaging in anti-party activities, claiming the FCT Minister was serving the interests of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Mohammed, who also chairs the PDP Governors Forum, further labeled Wike as a “transactional politician” with shifting loyalties.
In response, Wike fired back, calling Mohammed a “greedy politician” and criticizing his ability to lead as the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum. This war of words has now drawn a strong reaction from the PDP youth wing, which has called for Mohammed to either stop disgracing the party or leave.
In a statement issued on Monday, the PDP Youth Front, led by National President Comrade Isah Ibrahim, expressed disappointment with Mohammed’s behavior. They accused him of descending into the “sewer” with his unwarranted attacks on Wike and claimed his actions were damaging the party’s reputation.
The youth group also took aim at Mohammed for his handling of issues such as the tax reform bills, where they accused him of undermining the party’s stance on government policies. “Bala Mohammed’s persistence in criticising policies he doesn’t understand is diminishing the party’s standing among Nigerians,” the statement read. They also reminded him that the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, of which he is a member, had already endorsed the tax reforms he criticized.
Further accusing Mohammed of using the PDP to further his personal ambitions, the youth group suggested that his attacks on Wike were rooted in a desire to position himself as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election. They painted him as a “political jobber” looking to “use and dump” the PDP for his own gain.
The statement also mocked Mohammed’s lack of tangible achievements in comparison to Wike’s successes as FCT Minister, suggesting that his obsession with undermining Wike was driven by jealousy and insecurity. They advised the governor to take lessons from Wike’s leadership style, urging him to “register as an apprentice” under Wike to learn how to execute projects and address the needs of his constituents.
The PDP Youth Front ended their statement by urging Wike to ignore Mohammed’s rants and continue leading the party, warning the Bauchi governor that his actions were making him a liability to the PDP. They concluded with a clear message: If anyone should leave the PDP, it’s Bala Mohammed.
