“Court Orders Police to Cease Harassment of Kano Anti-Corruption Boss Muhyi Magaji”

A Kano High Court, under the presiding judge Justice Sunusi Ado Ma’aji, has granted a temporary order stopping the police from arresting the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado.

On Monday, the court ruled in favor of an interim injunction, restraining the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Nigerian Police Force from inviting, arresting, or harassing Magaji pending the outcome of the full hearing regarding his arrest last week.

Magaji’s arrest occurred after he was taken by the police over allegations tied to the confiscation of properties in Kano belonging to APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The plaintiffs in the case include the Kano State Attorney General, the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, and Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado. The defendants in the matter are the Nigerian Police Force, the Inspector General of Police, the AIG Zone One, the Kano Commissioner of Police, ASP Ahmed Bello, and Bala Muhammad Inuwa.

The court’s decision to intervene has been viewed as a temporary relief for Magaji, as the legal battle over his arrest continues to unfold.
