Tragic Building Collapse Claims Three Lives in Lagos
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed on Wednesday that three people, including a 15-year-old boy, tragically lost their lives in a building collapse at Northern Vulture Estate, Chevron Drive.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary at LASEMA, released a statement revealing that the two-storey building, still under construction, collapsed, causing widespread devastation. Alongside the young teen, two adult males were also confirmed dead after being recovered from the wreckage by emergency responders.
Six Victims Rescued, but Tragedy Strikes with Multiple Casualties
In addition to the fatalities, six individuals were rescued alive from the collapse site and treated by medical teams on the scene. While the immediate cause of the collapse remains unknown, LASEMA has launched an investigation to determine the factors leading to the disaster.
Demolition Complete, Rescue Efforts Conclude as Tragedy Deepens
The collapsed structure has now been completely demolished, and the search and rescue operation has officially concluded. LASEMA had initially reported one adult male fatality and four injuries, but the death toll later rose to three.
Ongoing Investigation to Determine Cause of Building Collapse
The authorities are continuing their investigation into the collapse, with plans to determine the exact cause of the incident. The tragic event has left the community shaken, and officials have pledged to ensure that all relevant safety protocols are reviewed.
