NSCDC Refutes Misleading Reports on Arrested Officers’ Crimes

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has responded to recent reports surrounding three of its former officers, who were arrested for their involvement in kidnapping, banditry, and arms supply. The Corps made it clear that these personnel were dismissed in 2023, following their arrest in October 2022.

A statement issued by Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC’s National Public Relations Officer, clarified that the reports circulating were misleading. Contrary to claims in the media, these individuals were not active members of the NSCDC at the time of their alleged crimes.

Dismissed NSCDC Officers Were Arrested in 2022, Agency Clarifies

The NSCDC made it clear that the suspects were arrested over a year ago, in October 2022, and had been dismissed well before 2023. The agency emphasized that the former personnel acted on their own and in no way represented the NSCDC or its operations.

This clarification came after certain media outlets misreported the case, incorrectly presenting it as a recent event involving current NSCDC officers.

NSCDC Refutes Misleading Reports on Arrested Officers’ Crimes

In response to ongoing media scrutiny, the NSCDC strongly refuted claims that the arrested individuals were still affiliated with the organization. The Corps stressed that these arrests were part of a broader investigation into criminal activity, not an indictment of the institution’s integrity.

The statement further assured the public that the suspects’ actions were their own and not in any way sanctioned by the NSCDC, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to national security and the rule of law.

NSCDC Vows Zero Tolerance for Misconduct, Denies Ties to Kidnapping Ring

The NSCDC reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for misconduct, vowing strict action against any personnel involved in criminal activities. Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Audi emphasized the Corps’ commitment to professional conduct, stating that the three dismissed officers were no longer part of the organization.

He urged media outlets to report accurately to prevent misinformation that could undermine public trust. The NSCDC continues to focus on its mission to protect national assets and ensure public safety, through regular training and coordination with joint security task forces.
