Alaafin of Oyo Dissolves Unauthorized Coronation Committee
Oba Abimbola Owode, the newly crowned Alaafin of Oyo, has swiftly dissolved an unauthorised coronation committee allegedly set up by a group of individuals without his consent. The announcement was made public on Wednesday in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Oba Abimbola Owode Issues Cease and Desist Order on Unapproved Committee
In a clear and firm statement, Oba Owode made it clear that any meetings or activities related to this unauthorised committee would be deemed illegal and would not be tolerated. He emphasised the necessity of following proper protocol for any committee or event connected to his coronation.
In an official notice titled, “Coronation Committee Setup in Oyo Town—Notice of Cease & Desist,” the Alaafin declared, “Let it be known to all that any committee or activity established without the prior consent and approval of His Imperial Majesty and his office shall be considered unauthorised and will not be permitted to exist.”
New Alaafin Warns: No Unauthorized Activities Around Coronation
The monarch called on all individuals involved in the unauthorised committee to immediately halt their activities. He stated, “The public and the organisers of this so-called coronation committee are hereby notified that no approval or consent has been granted by the Alaafin, Oba Abimbola Owode I. Thus, all discussions on this matter must cease at once.”

Oba Owode further clarified that any fundraising related to his coronation would be strictly managed by the royal family, which will also determine the formation of any official committee, should it be deemed necessary. While he expressed appreciation for the organisers’ efforts, the Alaafin reaffirmed that all coronation-related activities must receive approval from his office before being made public.
“The royal family will keep the community informed of any developments regarding future contributions,” he concluded.
