“Abia Governor Otti Slams Pensioners’ Leaders as Dishonest, Links Them to PDP”
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has launched a scathing attack on the leaders of pensioners in the state, calling them dishonest individuals leading honest people. The governor accused the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of orchestrating a campaign to mislead the public and deny the agreements his administration made with pensioners concerning their gratuities and inherited pensions.
Speaking during the January edition of his media chat at the Government House in Umuahia on Thursday, Otti claimed that investigations revealed the PDP’s involvement in manipulating the pensioners’ leaders to spread falsehoods about the agreements signed with his government.
“Pensioners are honest people; their leaders are dishonest, and we don’t reward dishonesty,” Otti declared. He continued to berate the leaders, saying, “If you made a mistake, you come and say, ‘I made a mistake.’ Don’t say you didn’t sign. Don’t say you were deceived to sign.”
Further accusing the opposition party of being behind the misinformation, Otti pointed out that even the lawyer representing the pensioners was affiliated with the PDP.
The governor also made it clear that his administration is no longer paying attention to the opposition’s criticisms. He stressed that the opposition’s “noise” would not derail the progress his government is making in areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Otti promised that these efforts would continue unabated, despite the distractions.
