“APC Chieftain Adamu Garba Criticizes Trump’s Efforts Against BRICS Currency”
Adamu Garba, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s ongoing efforts to oppose the creation of a BRICS currency.
This statement follows Trump’s recent remarks reiterating his threat to impose 100 percent tariffs on BRICS nations, which include Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, if they attempt to develop a currency to rival the U.S. dollar.
“The idea that the BRICS Countries are trying to move away from the Dollar, while we stand by and watch, is OVER,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform late Thursday.
However, Garba argued that Trump’s plan to impose tariffs on countries trading against the dollar is counterproductive and will only serve to isolate the United States from global economic progress.
“President Trump’s tantrums against the BRICS currency is a waste of time. His planned action to impose tariffs for trading against the dollar will further isolate the United States,” Garba stated on X.
Garba further emphasized that the current global landscape is far different from the U.S. dominance of the 1940s, noting that the world has evolved beyond a unipolar system. “This is not the U.S. of the 1940s; this is 2025,” he added.
