“PDP Crisis: Chief Bode George Calls Out Atiku, Wike for Party’s Woes”
Chief Bode George, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a member of its Board of Trustees, has criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike over the ongoing crisis within the opposition party.
In an appearance on Arise TV’s The Morning Show on Friday, January 31, 2025, George described the situation in PDP as “depressing” and claimed that the party is being torn apart by personal ambitions of its members. He traced the roots of the crisis back to the party’s national convention ahead of the 2023 presidential election, accusing both Atiku and Wike of sabotaging the party’s unity.
“The opposition party is being decimated because of personal ambitions,” George said. “Both Atiku and Wike have committed hara-kiri. Enough of this nonsense.”
He also expressed frustration at party members blaming the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the internal issues within PDP, urging his fellow party leaders to stop using the APC as a scapegoat. “Throwing tantrums and accusing APC is just undermining the issue,” he added.
To resolve the crisis, George proposed setting up a committee to investigate the matter and hold accountable any members who have violated party rules. He stressed that the party must act decisively, stating, “We must be bold enough to tell them enough of this nonsense. Anybody guilty of serious offenses must be dealt with.”
He emphasized that there should be consequences for those who fail to adhere to the party’s rules, saying, “If you can’t follow the regulations, then we ease you out.”
