“Police Service Commission Orders Retirement of Officers Over 60 and with 35+ Years of Service”

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the immediate retirement of senior police officers who have served for over 35 years or are above the age of 60.

This decision was made during the Commission’s 24th Plenary Meeting held on the 27th and 28th of September, 2017, as outlined in a statement released by Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations at the PSC.

The statement further advised new entrants to the Force to confirm their dates of appointment and enlistment to ensure accurate records.

The meeting, which was presided over by PSC Chairman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, saw the participation of key figures such as Justice Adamu Paul Galumje, a retired Supreme Court Justice and the Commission’s judiciary representative; DIG Taiwo Lakanu, the police representative; and Chief Onyemuchi Nnamani, the Commission’s Secretary.

The Commission has already communicated its decision to the Inspector General of Police, instructing immediate action for the implementation of the retirement policy.
