Seven Persons Injured in Head-on Collision on Lagos-Badagry Expressway
Seven people sustained varying degrees of injury in an accident on Friday night involving a V-Waggon commercial bus and a Toyota Camry car on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The incident, which occurred around 11:10 p.m. at the Sawmill Bus Stop in the Ibereko area, was confirmed by the unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. William Manga, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to Manga, the FRSC personnel were alerted to the crash at 11:15 p.m. and arrived at the scene seven minutes later, at 11:22 p.m. He explained that the accident occurred when the V-Waggon commercial bus, with registration number AGL 867 YA, lost control while attempting a U-turn and collided head-on with the Toyota Camry, which was coming from Mile 2 and had the number plate KRD 232 HD.
A total of 24 persons were involved in the accident, with four men and three women sustaining varying degrees of injury. The injured were promptly taken to the Care General Hospital in Badagry for medical treatment.
Manga attributed the cause of the accident to dangerous driving and urged all drivers to adhere strictly to traffic rules, avoid speeding, and refrain from overloading their vehicles. The two vehicles involved in the accident have since been taken to the Mowo Police Station in Badagry.
The FRSC commander called on motorists to exercise caution on the roads to prevent further accidents.
