The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revoked the Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) of Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation for violating Part 1.2.1.5 of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs), which pertains to the falsification, reproduction, or alteration of key aviation documents.
The specific certificates revoked were OBA/AOC/12-15/002 for Omni-Blu Aviation and EAL/AOC/03-24/001 for Eastwind Aviation.
This decision is part of the NCAA’s ongoing efforts to sanitize the aviation industry, particularly following a recent incident involving a Max Air aircraft. The revocation follows findings that both companies engaged in fraudulent practices in their applications, licenses, and operational records.
Part 1.2.1.5(b) of Nig. CARs mandates severe penalties, including the revocation of air operator certificates, for such violations, and the NCAA has enforced this sanction accordingly.
The regulatory body emphasized that these actions demonstrate its commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and accountability within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
In a statement signed by Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, the authority confirmed the violation and reiterated the revocation of the airlines’ certificates.
“Both Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation are found in violation of Part 1.2.1.5 of Nig. CARs concerning the falsification, reproduction, or alteration of aviation documents,” Achimugu stated. “As a result, their respective Air Operator Certificates—OBA/AOC/12-15/002 and EAL/AOC/03-24/001—have been revoked.”
