“Kano Police Arrest Wife and Associates of Chadian Terrorist in Major Security Breakthrough”
The Kano State Police Command has made significant strides in dismantling a terror network with the arrest of the wife of a suspected Chadian terrorist, Ahmad Adam Abba, and two of his associates in Kano.
In a briefing on the command’s successes following the January 24, 2025, terror security alert, police spokesperson Abdullahi Kiyawa revealed that the arrests were the result of a thorough investigation and intelligence-led policing. Among those apprehended were a 42-year-old Chadian national, Jibrin Mohammed, and a Nigerian associate, with further investigations ongoing.
Kiyawa explained that acting on intelligence reports, the police had recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and investigations were being conducted discreetly. The key suspect, Ahmad Adam Abba, who is wanted for masterminding the killing of 17 people in the Republic of Chad, had been identified as planning to establish a terrorist base in Kano. However, Abba managed to escape Nigeria before he could execute his plans.
The police spokesperson announced that while Abba remains at large, his wife and associates had been successfully apprehended. He emphasized the significant progress made by the Kano Police Command in neutralizing potential threats, reaffirming that there is no safe haven for criminals in the state.
Kiyawa also highlighted the command’s heightened intelligence-gathering efforts and close collaboration with other security agencies and local communities. He assured the public that the police would continue to intensify surveillance and work proactively to combat crime and prevent any emerging security threats in the region.
