False Report Circulates About Senator Chukwu’s Party Switch
Senator Kelvin Chukwu, the representative for Enugu East Senatorial Zone, has come forward to clarify a viral claim circulating on social media. On Monday morning, a report surfaced alleging that Senator Chukwu had defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
The controversy began with the appearance of a resignation letter, supposedly signed by the Senator, addressed to the LP’s National Chairman. In the letter, Chukwu appeared to announce his departure from the party, citing leadership crises within the Labour Party as the reason for his decision to resign. The document further stated that Chukwu had joined the Zenith Labour Party, aligning with their values and vision.
However, in a swift rebuttal, the Senator’s office dismissed the letter as a fraudulent document. In a statement signed by his Chief of Staff, Eneh Victor, Senator Chukwu firmly denied any such defection, calling the report “a deliberate act of misinformation” meant to mislead the public.
