“Ex-APC Chieftain Salihu Lukman Vows to Campaign Against Tinubu, APC Administration”

Salihu Lukman, a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee, has vowed to actively campaign against President Bola Tinubu and the APC-led government. Lukman, who was once a strong supporter of Tinubu’s presidential bid, accused the president of straying from the promises he made to Nigerians and said he would no longer offer support.

Speaking on Arise TV’s The Morning Show on Tuesday, February 4, 2024, Lukman said he was once convinced that Tinubu was a true democrat and progressive politician, which is why he initially supported his campaign. However, Lukman now believes that the president has departed from those values. He admitted that his initial judgment was wrong, but stated that he would not hesitate to apologize if Tinubu proved him wrong.

Lukman challenged the president to demonstrate a shift from his current trajectory. He emphasized that if Tinubu could prove the critics wrong, he would be the first to apologize. However, given the president’s “arrogant” stance and failure to acknowledge the broken promises, Lukman made it clear that he would not apologize for his stance and would continue to campaign against both Tinubu and the APC administration.

Furthermore, Lukman called for a coalition among opposition leaders to unseat the APC in the 2027 elections. In his recent piece titled “Re: Early Outline of the Permutations for 2027”, Lukman expressed confidence that Nigerians could rise to challenge the current political leadership, advocating for a more competitive political contest in the upcoming elections.
