Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has launched a scathing attack on former Governor Nasir Elrufai over accusations that Governor Uba Sani accepted “N150 billion” from President Tinubu and failed to disclose the funds to the people of Kaduna.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Shehu Sani highlighted that Elrufai’s accusations are hypocritical, given the former governor’s own history of not disclosing large sums of money he received during his tenure.
Sani pointed out that Elrufai never disclosed millions of dollars from the Paris Refunds he received from President Buhari, nor did he reveal billions in Excess Crude funds, Ecological funds, or special grants from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). According to Sani, these funds were never made public for the people of Kaduna to know how they were spent.
The former senator also criticized Elrufai for collecting stamp duties and loans from commercial banks while mortgaging the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) without any transparency to the public.
He added, “There is nobody in Kaduna state who can confidently swear that they know how every kobo of the $350 million World Bank loan was spent, until the Kaduna Assembly conducts a probe.”
Sani suggested that if Governor Uba Sani is withholding the alleged “N150 billion,” it may be because he learned from Elrufai’s own practices, calling the former governor’s criticism a case of “coming to equity with dirty hands.”
The former lawmaker didn’t stop there, mocking Elrufai for accusing the current governor of betrayal, calling it a case of the “Legend of betrayal being outsmarted by the grand guru.” Sani also questioned whether Elrufai supported President Buhari during his time in office for financial gain, just as he insinuated about Governor Uba Sani’s support for Tinubu.
With biting sarcasm, Sani remarked, “The man with body odor is accusing another of having mouth odor,” further highlighting what he saw as the hypocrisy in Elrufai’s accusations.
