Tragic Fire Claims 17 Lives at Almajiri School in Zamfara
A devastating fire has claimed the lives of at least 17 students at an Almajiri school in the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday at Makarantar Mallam Ghali, a school dedicated to the Almajiri education system.
In a statement released in Gusau on Wednesday, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Governor, expressed profound sorrow over the loss. “I’m heartbroken by the tragic fire that occurred at Makarantar Mallam Ghali, an Almajiri school located in the Kauran Namoda area,” Idris said.
On behalf of the state government, Idris extended heartfelt condolences to the families, the school community, and the nation at large, as they collectively mourn the untimely loss of these young lives. He also wished a speedy recovery for the 16 students who were injured in the incident.
“During this time of sorrow, we pray for strength and comfort for the grieving families, and we assure them of the government’s support,” the statement continued.
