Bandits Abduct Former NYSC DG in Katsina, Kill One and Kidnap Nine Others
In the early hours of Thursday, bandits attacked Tsiga village in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, kidnapping former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (retd.), along with at least nine other residents. The attackers also killed one person and looted several homes, seizing valuables.
The bandits launched their assault around 12:30 AM, firing sporadically to instill fear among the villagers. Eyewitnesses reported that the armed assailants ransacked homes during the chaos, leaving the community in shock.
The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, was contacted for confirmation of the incident but was unavailable for comment, replying via text that he “can’t talk now.” The kidnapping of Tsiga has heightened concerns about rising insecurity in the region.
