Imo Becomes One-Party State, Governor Claims APC Dominance
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has declared that the state is now a one-party stronghold, asserting that opposition parties have effectively disappeared from the political scene. His remarks came during the visit of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and other senior party leaders, who were in Imo for the commissioning of newly constructed roads under the governor’s administration.
Speaking at the event, Governor Uzodinma emphasized that the success of the APC in Imo is a result of the party’s focus on human-centered development, which has greatly resonated with the people. He proudly stated that the APC’s outreach to rural areas, backed by impactful developmental projects, played a key role in the party’s resounding victory in the recent local government elections.
“I can testify to you, Mr. Chairman, that as a party, we have won the hearts of Imo people through our superlative performance in the last five years,” Uzodinma declared. “The party has been fully entrenched here because the people can relate to our developmental initiatives.”
The governor also highlighted that opposition parties in the state have faded into obscurity due to the visible progress brought by the APC administration. According to him, the success of the APC, evidenced by its overwhelming victory in the recent State House of Assembly and local government elections, is a clear indication that opposition parties no longer hold any significant influence in the state’s political space.
“APC government has brought the state back on track, and moving forward is the only assurance,” Uzodinma asserted.
Proud of the strides his administration has made, Governor Uzodinma vowed to continue focusing on infrastructure development and human capital enhancement, further strengthening the party’s position in the state and ensuring that Imo’s progress remains unstoppable.
