Military Strikes at Bello Turji’s Camp, Eliminates Key Bandit Leaders
In a significant military operation, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, announced that Nigerian troops have successfully eliminated top commanders within the camp of notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji in Zamfara state.
General Musa shared this development at the closing ceremony of the CDS Joint Task Force Commander Conference in Abuja on Friday. He identified the two slain commanders as Kachalla Gwammade and Kachalla Shehu, both of whom were killed during an operation late Thursday night. This decisive strike is part of the broader military push against Turji’s network in the region.
The CDS detailed that the recent operations have significantly increased the pressure on Turji, forcing him into a frantic attempt to escape. “Our troops carried out follow-up operations, advancing into Tufan and Mashima villages, further dislodging the armed groups and pushing them deeper into the forest,” General Musa explained.
In a show of strength, the security forces also revisited areas previously cleared in Turji’s camp, obliterating the remaining portions of his stronghold in what Musa described as a symbolic final push to eradicate his presence in the region.
“Both Turji and his ally Sani Black are reportedly still in the area, desperately seeking escape routes as military pressure continues to mount,” the defence chief revealed.
Musa reiterated that the military’s actions send a clear message to all armed groups across the country: the era of impunity has come to an end. He further emphasized that the military would maintain its momentum, ensuring that all terrorist factions are neutralized, restoring peace and security to the affected regions.
